GREENSCREEN TEST:

Using Adobe After Effects, we created a short clip with the intent to focus on developing our green screening technique. We created a video less than 20 seconds that contained two different uses of green screening with a stock video to feature, rather than a music video.

  • This process involved importing two videos that contained an area to project the stock video on and removing the colour of the given area (from green to black).

  • With the imported video, I used keying in order to be able to place the stock video onto the imported video and then altering the composition of the stock video to fit it into the given area.

  • After this, I cut the video so that instead of a green screen video, the stock video was enlarged and the main focus of the video overall.

  • The green screen process was repeated so that the stock video was within the imported video, once again, but I used a different green screen to gain more practice as it was a different size.

The overall purpose was to give the video the appearance that the music video was playing on a billboard screen then the audience would be given the impression that they are inside the music video due the zoom. Then the music video cuts back out, this time on a computer screen, to remind the audience that this is a music video they are passive in.

In my music video, I will use a similar method with green screening so that whilst the music video is occurring, the audience will appear not entirely passive. The music video will conclude (and potentially begin) with green screening so that the audience will be under the impression that they themselves are a part of the narrative and so by default, will be experiencing the journey along with the protagonist.

Additionally, in the music video I would like to include a recreation of a shot from the original Bad Reputation music video. This shot will include the use of green screening as I will be projecting a clip of a character applying eyeliner in a television screen. However, is this is not entirely possible to the standard I require, I shall use the green screening technique to place a clip of the character applying eyeliner in a mirror, but they will be facing the camera to give the effect that the audience are in the mirror.
